Generational Diversity in the Field of Medicine

For the first time in history, today’s workplace has four to five generations that must work together on a daily basis. It can lead to either incredible collaboration or dysfunction. This interactive and engaging session offers a peak into the various generations of physicians and medical students including what they value, how they communicate best and what leaders must do to connect with each one and equip them to work as a high performing team together.  This topic is critically important in high stakes medical environments with longstanding learning traditions that want to prepare the next generation of doctors to be equipped to thrive in today’s culture.

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

•   Describe the primary characteristics of each generation in today’s physician environments
•   Identify communication best practices for physicians and medical students of varying ages

•   Establish an individual action plan to improve their specific interactions with professors, residents and students

The afternoon session will be presented as faculty development which can be presented as such to those you designate.
