About the Emergency Department
Loma Linda University Medical Center Emergency Department is a Level 1 Adult and Pediatric Trauma receiving center for San Bernardino, Riverside and Inyo counties in California. We are also a designated Comprehensive Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center dedicated to rapid intervention for acute strokes and heart attacks. The Emergency Department treats a population of roughly equal to 25 percent of the state of California, servicing close to 75,000 patients a year, including 26,000 children.
The emergency department is staffed by board certified emergency medicine doctors, advanced practice providers (physician assistants and nurse practitioners), and nurses. Our staff includes professors from the Loma Linda School of Medicine. In addition to emergency medicine, their areas of expertise include intensive care, diagnostic ultrasound, toxicology, disaster medicine, pediatrics, international medicine and more.
The Emergency Department staff prides itself on practicing evidence based and progressive medical care. We are always prepared for any patient that arrives in the Emergency Room. We care for patients with varying levels of illness: from fevers and infections, to fractures, lacerations, or other injuries, to life-threatening conditions and cardiac emergencies.
