Electronic Visits (e-Visits)

What is an e-Visit?

An e-Visit is a secure and convenient electronic way to manage a medical problem with your physician.

It involves using Loma Linda University Health MyChart to electronically answer a series of questions about your medical condition. Your physician will evaluate your responses along with your medical history to provide you with a treatment plan the same as you would receive through an office visit.

You can submit an e-Visit for the following symptoms:

  • Back pain
  • Cough
  • Diarrhea
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Heartburn
  • Red eye
  • Sinus problems
  • Urinary problems
  • Vaginal discharge/irritation

Where do you access an e-Visit?

You must have access to LLUH MyChart to do an e-Visit. If you do not already use MyChart, it is easy to sign up. Visit your Family Medicine physician, who will give you an authorization code to sign up for MyChart. You can make an appointment with your family physician by calling 909-558-6600.

Who can do an e-Visit?*

During the initial pilot phase, e-Visits are only available to patients covered under a health plan administered by the Department of Risk Management who have an established relationship with their Family Medicine physician.

Why submit an e-Visit?

Convenience: No need to wait for an appointment or go to the clinic when you are not feeling well.
Speed: e-Visit hours are from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. On those days, you will receive a response within four hours during e-Visit hours.
Privacy: e-Visits take place privately in LLUH MyChart and will become part of your MyChart record.

What is the cost of an e-Visit?

Like an office visit with your physician, an e-Visit is a billable service. The co-pay is $10 per e-Visit. With the Loma Linda University Health Base Plan, the co-pay is $20.

What if I need to be seen in person?

When the Loma Linda University Family Medicine Group provider reviews your answers and medical record, he or she might determine that you should be seen in person instead of being treated through an e-Visit. In this case, the provider will contact you via MyChart or by phone. When this occurs, you will not be charged for the e-Visit.

*During this pilot phase, e-visits are only available to established Family Medicine patients.
