Becoming a Patient - International Patient Services

The process of becoming a patient at Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC) consists of six easy steps. Depending on the type of treatment required, this process can take as little as two weeks. Let us guide you through these steps.

  1. Completing our patient referral form or contacting our Nurse Intake Coordinator:

    Please note: We encourage you to complete the patient referral form before contacting the Nurse Intake Coordinator. Your detailed information will be needed immediately.

  2. Sending medical records.

    Send complete and current medical record information by either email (requires prior authorization), fax, or to our mailing address listed above. We will also need any relevant medical documents that may not be included in your medical records, including test results or radiology films. If your medical records are not in English, they will need to be translated.

  3. Obtaining medical clearance.

    Once your completed medical records file is received, one of our physicians, specializing in your diagnosis, will review your medical history to determine what specific treatment is appropriate for you.

  4. Obtaining financial clearance.

    Our Financial Coordinator will be contacting you to discuss specific financial arrangements for your care. You will need to provide full payment for treatment or authorization from your insurance company prior to your first medical appointment.

  5. Scheduling yourappointment.

    OurNurse Intake Coordinator will schedule your medical appointments based on the specific treatment planproposed by our physician.

  6. Travel and accommodations.

    Our International Patient Coordinator will be in contact with you to arrange for airport pick-up, discuss housing options, language interpretation needs, and any other specific requests you may have to make your stay with us more comfortable.
