About Wesley Phipatanakul, M.D.
Philosophy of Care"I treat patients not x-rays".... What does that mean? It means that I take time to get to know my patients on a personal level and address their wishes and concerns. There is so much more to patient care than x-ray findings. How is your overall health?
What to Expect:
Personal attention from your physician. When you come for an office visit, your exam and questions will be performed and answered by me. Phone messages are to be returned the same day. I am very particular about that last point. I believe in direct open communication between patient and physician. My patients are given the direct phone number to my medical assistant and surgery scheduler.
I am directly involved in All details and aspects of the surgical procedure: from positioning and setup of the patient to wound closure, dressing and sling application. In fact, I believe my residents would prefer if I was less involved. This also includes post-op care in the hospital. You will see me personally every day you are in the hospital including weekends following surgery with only rare exception.
Social factors such as family/friend support, living situation, use of assistive walking devices, and type of employment are discussed. I am concerned about the patient as a complete individual, not only as someone with shoulder arthritis or a fractured bone. The individual characteristics of each patient are vital to a successful outcome. Medicine is both an art and a science. I believe in open and direct communication between patient and physician.
