About Lee Zuckerman, M.D.

Philosophy of Care

Orthopaedic oncology is a highly specialized field in orthopaedics, and a limited number are currently practicing in the U.S. As an orthopaedic oncologist, I evaluate and treat both benign and malignant soft tissue and bone tumors. I specialize in limb-salvage surgery and complex reconstruction. I perform biopsies for diagnosis and also monitor tumors/lesions when they appear benign. I also specialize in complex joint reconstruction, treatment of metastatic disease, and cryosurgery. I treat every patient as an individual and work with them to find the optimal treatment for their condition. I collaborate with hematology/oncology, radiation oncology, and other specialists to treat the patient as a whole. I discuss the options of treatment thoroughly and believe that even if limb-salvage is not possible or desired, the patient should understand the risks and benefits of treatment. Whether the diagnosis is benign or malignant, treatment can take a toll both emotionally and physically on the patient, and I believe that they should be comfortable and confident in the care they receive at Loma Linda.
