Physical medicine and rehabilitation, or physiatry, is a medical specialty that aims to restore the functional ability of individuals suffering from physical impairments caused by disease or injury. These impairments can not only impact mobility, but also affect an individual’s quality of life.

When a person is physically impaired by injury or disease they need the medical expertise of an experienced physiatrist and rehabilitation team to restore their mobility and see actual results. Physiatrists are nerve, muscle and bone experts who treat injuries and illnesses affecting movement. They apply their expertise to develop a comprehensive, rehabilitation treatment program for restoring optimal function without surgery.
