Physical Therapy

Physical therapy is a medical specialty focusing on the physical treatment and management of complex physical and functional challenges caused by strokes, spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, orthopedic injury and other musculoskeletal or neurological disorders. These conditions impact mobility and independence by preventing individuals from performing everyday activities.

Physical therapists may provide treatment and education regarding activities of daily living, balance and gait retraining, exercise programs, mobility, muscle retraining and pain management among others.

At Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC), the physical therapy program is critical to medical rehabilitation. Our physical therapists evaluate, treat and manage patients with some of the most complex mobility problems. Through a combination of exercise, strength training, education and manual therapy techniques, our physical therapists create highly individualized care plans to correct movement, reduce pain and restore patients’ health, strength and independence. Their sole aim is to help individuals go about their daily activities at home and work and regain their confidence and independence.
