The Loma Linda University Medical Center Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship is a three-year ACGME-accredited program, accepting five (5) fellows per year.  It is part of the Loma Linda University Health Education Consortium, which provides first rate medical education for over 850 residents and fellows in 60 accredited programs. The Loma Linda University School of Medicine also graduates approximately 160 medical students, and the Department of Medicine graduates about 35 Internal Medicine residents annually.

The fellowship utilizes three major teaching hospitals: Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC), VA Loma Linda Healthcare System (VAMC), and Riverside University Health System (RUHS). Together, they account for over 1200 adult beds. Loma Linda is about 60 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, in a part of Southern California known as the Inland Empire. The Medical Center serves as the preeminent referral center for Southern Nevada, California’s Owens Valley Region, Eastern Los Angeles County, and portions of California’s High Desert and Central Valley; in all, a region of seven million people.

The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Hyperbaric, and Sleep Medicine provides inpatient general pulmonary consultation and procedural services, pulmonary function and cardiopulmonary exercise testing, hyperbaric medicine, and directs the medical intensive care units at all three hospitals. In addition, the Division offers a number of tertiary pulmonary subspecialty services through the Advanced Lung Disease Center.
