Resident Rotations

PGY I Rotations - Residents will begin their time at Loma Linda on the plastic surgery service to introduce them to the team dynamic and the way the service runs. Residents will also rotate on various other surgical and non-surgical services with which we the Plastic Surgery Department have close interactions with including Orthopedic Surgery, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, ENT surgery, Transplant Surgery, Acute Care Surgery/Trauma surgery and general surgery at the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial VA Medical Center where they will have an opportunity to interact with two of our clinical plastic surgery faculty. Additionally, the PGY Is will spend one month dedicated to research to begin to understand the IRB development process and to get involved in on-going projects.

PGY II Rotations - The residents will rotate on a variety of services emphasizing critical care of acutely ill patients. Residents will also spend time on the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center Burn Critical Care Unit to learn about this unique subset of critically ill patients and will participate in their reconstructive procedures. Residents will additional rotate on the Loma Linda pediatric surgery service as well as on the surgical oncology service. Residents will also spend 2 months on the Loma Linda plastic surgery service to continue to develop their surgical and patient care skills.
