LLUMC also specializes in hepatology / liver disease and complex liver and digestive tract surgery, offering cutting-edge approaches for the diagnosis and treatment of a full range of chronic and acute liver diseases and disorders affecting the pancreas, bile duct and gallbladder.

Kidney transplantation began at LLUMC in 1967. Since then, LLUMC has performed over 2,000 kidney transplants are widely recognized for our depth of experience, expertise and leadership in adult and pediatric kidney transplantation and living donor transplants.
LLUMC’s medical team is specially trained in pancreas transplantation for adults with or without an accompanying kidney transplant. Committed to improving our patients’ quality of life, LLUMC performs pancreas transplants on diabetics to free them from insulin therapy. Combined kidney-pancreas transplants are performed on patients who have Type 1 diabetes and suffer from significant kidney disease.
At LLUMC, we provide a fully integrated liver transplant program to adult and pediatric patients. Our multidisciplinary team approach provides each individual patient with quality whole-person care before, during and after liver transplantation.
