Our Diagnostic Process

To determine the appropriate course of treatment for women suffering from heart problems, our experienced staff will begin the diagnostic process by compiling a woman's complete medical history and performing a thorough physical exam on her.

Subsequently, our physicians and nurses may also conduct any combination of the following tests to pinpoint the nature and severity of a woman's heart problems:

  • Blood tests to assess cholesterol levels and blood cell counts
  • X-rays and echocardiograms to create images of the heart's structure
  • Electrocardiograms (ECGs) to gauge the strength and regularity of a woman's heartbeat
  • Cardiac catheterization to detect the pressure in and blood flow through the heart's chambers
  • Biopsy to test for enlarged heart
  • CT scans and MRIs, including 3T MRIs, to reveal plaque buildup inside arteries and other potential structural abnormalities with the heart
