Pre-Registration Services

Your appointment will be scheduled in advance and your insurance eligibility and authorization requirements for your specific services will be verified. The Financial Services Department will attempt to obtain a pre-certification or prior authorization for your services if one is required. If they are unable to obtain the pre-cert/pre-auth, your appointment may be rescheduled.

Financial Services will determine your pre-service financial liability. This estimate will be based on your insurance benefits, deductibles, and co-insurance. Your estimate can be viewed within your MyChart account. You can complete your eCheck-in within MyChart as well as pay your pre-service liability prior to your appointment. This will allow you to go directly to your appointment and not stop at registration. If your eCheck-in is incomplete or you do not make a payment on your pre-service liability, you will be directed to see a check-in representative on the day of your appointment.

Insurance and Self Pay

If you are a self-pay patient and have agreed to a cash rate, you are required to pay your self-pay rate or partial payment with the balance on a payment plan prior to the day of your appointment.  If your liability has not been paid prior to your date of service, you will need to see registration on the day of service which could result in a delay or cancellation of your appointment.

Medicare/Medi-Cal

Loma Linda is a Medicare/Medi-Cal provider. Medicare and Medi-Cal patients must present their current cards at the time of service. Medicare patients are requested to pay their deductible at the time of admission. If not paid, supplemental insurance eligibility must be verified.

Medicare patients: When you are scheduled for an Outpatient service, Medicare requires us to check the diagnosis information your ordering physician has provided for the specific test or procedure. In some cases Medicare will not pay for a service because they feel the diagnosis does not support the need for the test or service requested by your physician.

Check In for Hospital Appointments

If your pre-registration was not completed over the phone or via My Chart, please report to the Check In Department at the campus location your appointment is scheduled on the day of service. Please remember to arrive early to ensure your check in is completed so you may arrive to your appointment at the designated time. Our Customer Service Representative will review your demographics, employment, personal contacts, and other required information to ensure your identity and billing information. Your pre-service liability will be expected to be paid in full prior to your service, or payment arrangements can be made after a minimum of 20% deposit is collected. You will be asked to sign or acknowledge the receipt of State and Federal Regulatory documents our hospital is required to inform you of.
